In addition to this horn being a great playing natural horn, it also has a sauterelle, or removable piston set. What makes it special is the ascending 3rd which aids in the high range of this single horn.
Comes with original F crook, which sits quite high to A=440, almost in F# (high pitch). The other crooks and couplers at A=440 made by Miles O’Malley which include:
C alto crook
Bb alto crook (doesn’t play well)
A crook
G crook
G crook (different tapers)
4 couplers for Bb alto, F, E, Eb, and can be combined for D, C and Bb basso
Long A=430 main tuning slide
The new crooks are made for zero morse shank mouthpiece. The original crook requires a narrow shank mouthpiece, but since it’s at high pitch it wouldn’t be used much.
We’ve sold 3 Evette & Schaeffer natural horns with removable piston sets. This piston set on this horn is in the best shape of the 3. Great compression for being over 120 years old. Using one of the G crooks put the piston horn into F with the ascending 3rd.
