A nice, ornate Bohemian single F horn made by Josef Fin at the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. Bohemian horns were known for their mellow sound, due to a small bore ending with a larger bell throat. Large garland. Plays quite well. Built at A=438 which was common at the time, but A=440 possible with the main slide pushed in.
This horn is being sold as-is. It needs a cleaning and rotor alignment. Has a loose solder joint around the 3rd valve, and has a small crack in the bell wire. Otherwise, the horn is in great condition for being over 100 years old.
The garland has many words engraved on it. The words will be easier to read once it’s cleaned, but “Smidtch” is likely the original owner.
