Wunderlich Schmidt Model – Built by Carl Geyer!

Available

$2,000.00

***Sold as a Project Horn***

Geyer before Geyer! Carl Geyer worked at Richard Wunderlich’s shop in Chicago from 1904-1919 building horns until he started his own business in 1920. At the time the Schmidt model double horn was the most popular.

Most of the horn is in wonderful shape. It is being sold as a project horn because the bell metal is thin and covered in patches, although there are no open cracks. The valves are worn and should be plated if one wanted to play this professionally, but with thick oil they work fine.

This horn was tested side-by-side with an actual Geyer horn, and the playing qualities were very similar.

More of a collector’s item today, but with a valve job it can be played professionally once again.
