Vienna horn!
Here’s a nice playing Vienna horn made around 1900. Anonymous but likely made by Genossenschaft, the best makers in Vienna at the beginning of the 20th century. Well done historic patches in common places for this age of horn. Some small dings but they don’t affect playability. Metal still in nice shape for its age. Great Vienna horn sound!
The crook isn’t original to the horn but it is from the time period. It puts the horn into F at A=438 which was the common Romantic pitch of the time. With the main slide pushed all the way in this horn plays at A=440.
The crook takes a narrow shank mouthpiece. We are currently working with Strachan Brass to create new Vienna horn mouthpieces that will take Giardinelli threads. One will be included with the sale of this horn.
Collector’s item and a great player! Rare to find Vienna horns from this time period in this great of shape. The current owner purchased this horn from Robert Engel in Vienna in the early 1990’s.
