Essentially a coiled flugelhorn, these valved jagdhorns (hunting horns) were originally used in German hunting ensembles as a chromatic inner voice. They sound similar to a flugelhorn and play exceptionally well! Same length as a Bb trumpet.
They take a trumpet shank mouthpiece but techs at Family Melody Center made a tapered adapter to take a French horn mouthpiece, and it plays very well this way. Recently serviced at Family Melody Center.
