This horn was played in a Swedish Railroad band in the 1920’s and was purchased through the Euterpe shop in Stockholm. Euterpe was an instrument dealer in Stockholm and did not manufacture instruments – they were registered as importers of wind, percussion and string instruments of the highest quality. Ernst Willners, the founder of the Euterpe shop, was a trumpet player in the royal Opera House in Stockholm, a composer and arranger, as well the CEO for Ahlberg & Ohlssons (the finest Swedish brass maker back then). Since they had a relationship with the German maker Schuster in Erlangen, the horn was likely made by them around 1910. The piston was re-plated which helped the horn a lot but the 3 main valves could still use a valve job to really make the horn play. Unusual that it has clock spring valves. Has a nice double-gusseted seamed bell. Overall, a very good and convincing Schmidt copy.
