1963 Reynolds Contempora FE-04 (Pottag Model) Double Horn with a case in excellent condition.

Serial # 78092

Made in Cleveland, Ohio

This horn is one of the later ones built and called in the Reynolds catalog the “Traditional Model”, though they were exactly the same as the previous Pottag labeled horns.  Due to a change in ownership of Reynolds, the Pottag name was dropped in 1963 and this model discontinued in 1964.

This horn is made of yellow brass with nickel outer slide tubes and a medium bell.

Despite it being a Kruspe wrap, it plays much like my Geyer horns with good resistance and a bright, clear sound.  It also features a separate Bb tuning slide.

Cosmetically, there are only a very few small dings and some evidence of part of the bell having been rolled out.  The valve compression is like new and the horn is 100% original with almost all of its lacquer intact.

These are truly fantastic and underrated instruments and should be seriously considered by both advanced students and professional players.

Currently in San Francisco with its owner.
