Parforcehorns are still used in Germany in hunting horn ensembles as well as in the United States. Both Rossini and Brahms were members of parforcehorn ensembles and wrote music for them.
This parforcehorn is special because it has a rotor that can switch between the common Eb horn to Bb to play in Furst Pless Horn ensembles, or even be used as a change valve to get notes in the high range in tune and added notes in the lower register.
