During the late 1990’s and 2000’s Holton experimented with many different prototypes. The 579 was a horn designed for the European market. It’s essentially a Holton 179 with a Paxman/metric threaded flare. This horn was made in 2008 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. In 2009 the Elkhorn factory closed, and all Holton operations move to Conn in Eastlake, Ohio.

This 579 in simply amazing! It’s a handmade instrument and has been sitting unplayed for nearly 15 years. It’s in pristine shape and plays exceptionally well, much better than any Holton production line instrument of the time.

Comes with Holton flat case and an adjustable flipper.

A new Holton 279 (179 with screw bell) sells for over $6,000. Here’s a chance to get a pristine handmade Holton at a lower price!

Dr. James Hampson performed on this horn on 12/17/2022 playing Mary Poppins in Setauket, NY.
