Hampson Horns Natural Horn, by Miles O’Malley ($2,000)

These horns are made-to-order. We require a non-refundable $500 deposit which will purchase the materials needed, and will hold your spot in queue. Current wait time is 6-8 months. We will send an invoice for the remaining $1,500 (total $2,000) plus shipping once your horn is finished and ready to ship.
We believe that every horn player should have the opportunity to understand where our instrument came from through study on the natural horn. Most of the literature we perform is either written for the natural horn, or is heavily influenced by it.

Hampson Horns worked with builder Miles O’Malley to create a complete natural horn at an affordable price. The system to get all of the keys consists of 2 master crooks, C alto and G, 4 couplers, and 2 tuning slides. With different combinations of crooks, couplers, and slides, one can achieve every key from C alto through Bb basso, at modern pitch (A440) and classical pitch (A430).

The G crook is copied from one of Dr. Hampson’s Courtois crooks, so is 100% tapered and comparable to any true natural horn crook. All of the parts are hand built except for the bell, bell tail, and first branch, which come from vintage Single F’s. Using these parts keeps costs down.

We now offer Bb alto, A, and F crooks copied from our 1820 Courtois! They will be an additional charge if desired:
