$12,500.00
An amazing, highly sought after natural horn corpus made by Courtois Neveu around 1820. Full crook set recently made by Richard Seraphinoff. C alto, Bb alto, A, G, F, E, Eb, D, C basso, coupler for Bb basso. 2 extra main tuning slides also made by Richard Seraphinoff (A=440 and A=430). The original corpus plays around A=450 (common pitch for the time period).
Plays exceptionally well! A cor alto (high horn) of the time period, has an exceptional middle and high register, great for playing the music of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and high horn parts of the 19th century. Great all around horn. Dr. James Hampson owned a different Courtois from this time period, a cor basse (low horn), that didn’t have a great high register above the 12th harmonic. This horn sure does play well up there!
Comes with a Marcus Bonna natural horn case. Takes a narrow shank historic mouthpiece.
Dr. James Hampson used this horn during a recital in Florida in September 2023.
This horn isn’t available for trial, and hand delivery preferred if possible. All sales final.
