Alexander 103 made around 1912!

Available

$3,000.00

You rarely see these early Alexander 103’s for sale!

The Alexander 103 was first put into production in 1907. This Alexander 103 was dated to 1912, at the very least Pre-WWI. It had a recent valve job so it plays great! Great highs, strong lows, intonation consistent. Smaller bore than the modern 103s.

The horn is built at A=438 (common late Romantic pitch) and takes a narrow shank mouthpiece, but with the right mouthpiece it can play at A=440 fine with the main and Bb tuning slides pushed in. If necessary there is room to shorten either the main or Bb tuning slide to bring it more easily up to modern pitch.

The bell and bell tail have numerous patches, but the metal is otherwise strong.

A wonderful player and collector’s item!

Ideal For:

Professionals looking for an amazing 103, collectors.
