Heckel was the most used maker of trumpets throughout Europe from the mid 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. They standardized the design of the rotary trumpet and made the highest quality instruments. AA Heckel was one of the large family of Heckel makers located in Adorf, Germany.
This Bb trumpet was restored to professional playing condition by J.c. Sherman of Variations in Brass. It is in phenomenal condition for being over 130 years old and plays remarkably well. It was used in 2022 for a concert of Schumann works on period instruments with Philharmonia Baroque.
